We know how frustrating it is to not have heating or cooling when it is most needed. We ask that you first check the following items before calling us. We often get calls from customers asking for repairs, but the problem is usually something that was overlooked by the customer. Please read the following frequently asked questions before you call us.

  • Does your indoor unit make a beep when you press a button on your remote?

Please change the batteries in your remote controller. If the indoor unit doesn't work, please turn on the emergency operation switch.

  • Is your unit running but not heating or cooling effectively?

Please make sure that the filters are clean. Sometimes, the filters get so clogged with dust that the air can't pass through and provide the required air flow.

  • Have you set the remote on the correct mode?

Please verify that the temperature setting is correct. The heat pump will not run if the temperature is set to 18 degrees and the heating mode is set to heating. Also on some models that use small symbols for mode identification(normally a sun for heating and a snowflake for cooling) these can quite often be confused with each other.

  • Are any lights flashing on your indoor unit or wall controller?

If there is a fault in the system, it will be displayed on your indoor unit via flashing operation and timer lights. Make a note of the flashes, and count them. Next, isolate power to the unit and leave it alone for five minutes. This will reset the system.

If the lights continue to flash after the reset, please note which lights are still flashing and how many times. This will speed up the diagnosis and allow us to arrive quickly to fix the problem.

Signs That Your Heat Pump Needs To Be Replaced

It's a good idea for heat pumps to be replaced after for years. This can pose safety risks, increase electricity bills, and cause costly malfunctions or even complete disrepair.

  • Frequent Repairs

Heat pumps are subject to natural wear and tear. To avoid any further problems, we recommend that you schedule a repair as soon as possible. We offer common repairs:

    • Frozen coils
    • Leakage of refrigerant
    • Broken reversing valves
    • Electric failure
  • Making Strange Noises

You will eventually become used to the heat pump's normal operating sounds. However, if your heat pump suddenly makes loud or alarming sounds, it is best to call our professional to diagnose the problem in Darlington. Beware of these Sounds

    • Hissing
    • Rattling
    • It is a scream
    • Loud bangs
  • Always Running

Your heat pump may not turn on if it isn't connected to the thermostat, electrical panel, or fans. An inefficient heat pump can cause discomfort. We will respond quickly to your concern.

  • Uneven Heat Distribution

Let one of our professionals inspect your heat pump if it is not producing the required heating or cooling. Natural wear and tear can often lead to uneven heat distribution. Installing a new heat pump can save you money and increase your comfort.

  • Poor Indoor Air Quality

Filthy heat pumps can spread contaminants and pollutants throughout your home. Filter clogs can spread contaminants such as mold, bacteria, dust mites, dirt, and outdoor allergens into your home. Regularly have your HVAC technician clean it!

  • Higher Energy Costs

The heat pump's performance is declining and will affect its efficiency. As it works harder and consumes more electricity to keep up with the thermostat's demands your heat pump will use more energy. Your heat pump could be responsible for your monthly utility bills if there is an increase in energy consumption. You can cut down on your monthly electricity consumption by upgrading to a better system.

How Long Does a Heat Pump Last?

A heat pump's life expectancy is between 10 and 15 years. However, it all depends on how clean and maintained your heat pump is and how often it is used. You can maintain a heat pump's efficiency for many years by changing the filters and cleaning the coils.
